Toronto -- February 24, 2011 -- The largest IFBB bodybuilding, figure, fitness and bikini pro show, and the first extreme sport expo, ever held in Canada is coming to Toronto this Spring. Bursting onto the scene, the first Toronto Pro SuperShow is opening its doors June 17 and 18th, 2011 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. It will be a showcase of everything fitness -- from vendors, demonstrations, shows and seminars, to world-class competitions.
Anchoring the show will be Canada's largest Fitness Expo -- a show floor of 70,000 square feet featuring everything related to health and fitness. Highlighting the show will be the very popular and anticipated events of both Amateur OPA and Professional IFBB bodybuilding, fitness, figure and bikini competitions. Mix it together with strongman, weightlifting, boxing and armwrestling competitions, and you have the largest event of its kind in Canadian history!
With only a $10 admission fee, the Fitness Expo will cater to fitness enthusiasts' every need with more than 100 booths related to fitness and competition apparel, fitness equipment, skin and body care products and services, healthy food options, supplements, fitness programs and more.
The competitions will take place in two locations: the Expo Stage will host men's and women's events, which are included with admission. The John Bassett Theatre, located within the Convention Centre, will host additional men's and women's competitions that require separate tickets.
"Visitors will bear witness to active living, skill testing and self-motivation to the fullest, which will hopefully influence their own passion towards a more active lifestyle and positive environment," said Ron Hache, President, Ontario Physique Association.
What makes this event unique?
Never before in Canada has there been a consumer show that combines the promotion of fitness and a healthy lifestyle, with the competition of extreme and combative sports. The common denominators among the two focus on active living, passion, motivation, competitive skill testing, personal fulfillment and camaraderie.
For the first time:
professional and amateur athletes will be competing side by side -- with competitors from the Ontario Physique Amateur bodybuilding, figure, fitness and bikini categories competing alongside IFBB pros.
youths will be competing in arm wrestling, boxing, fitness, kickboxing and weight lifting alongside veterans of competition.
the IFBB Professional 202 (under 202 pounds) men's bodybuilding, fitness, and figure competitions, as well as women’s bodybuilding and bikini competitions will be stepping onto a Canadian stage; and-
the show will host the first North American professional strongman competition where Canadian and World Champion Hugo Girard will have created a team to battle it out with the USA team. Canada versus USA!
With so many celebrities from the extreme sports world under one roof, this Expo will be filled with excitement that is not to be missed.
Tickets go on sale March 1st on the Toronto Pro SuperShow web site at http://www.TorontoProSuperShow.com.

Background on the Ontario Physique Association (OPA)
The Ontario Physique Association is the province's governing body for bodybuilding, fitness and figure events. The OPA is the only organization in Ontario recognized nationally by the Canadian BodyBuilding Federation (CBBF) and internationally by the International Federation of Body Building and Fitness (IFBB). Every year, the OPA holds approximately 15 events throughout Ontario, making it the largest physique organization in the country both in terms of the number of competitions and competitors.
Background on the International Federation of Body Building and Fitness (IFBB)
The International Federation of Body Building and Fitness was founded in 1946 in Montreal by brothers Joe and Ben Weider, whose dream was to bring the sport to international prominence. Ben Weider served as IFBB President from 1946 to 2006, and passed away in 2008.
The IFBB currently has 182 affiliated National Federations as members, and organizes more than 2,500 competitions from the regional to world levels each year. The organization is recognized by many world sporting organizations including the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and more than 90 National Olympic Committees. Competitors participate for medals in the Pan American Games, the European Games and the IOC Regional Games, among others.
The IFBB is a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Agency Code, and promotes a healthy lifestyle and actively discourages the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs.
